Since 1974, the Minnesota Shade Tree Advisory Committee (MNSTAC) has been advising Minnesota’s Governor, Legislature, other legislative and administrative branches of the state, the University of Minnesota, and the counties, communities, and people of the state of Minnesota on the best ways to preserve, protect, expand, and improve Minnesota’s urban and community forests.
MNSTAC is recognized throughout Minnesota for its expertise, advice, coordination, and support in matters related to community forestry. It is an advocate for public and private community forestry interests statewide and serves as a forum for the exchange and dissemination of ideas and information. A direct result of MNSTAC’s work is the development of a working relationship among the agencies principally responsible for state-wide programs: University of Minnesota Extension and research, Minnesota departments of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Transportation. MNSTAC is organized into standing committees, ad hoc sub-committees, and task forces.
This EAB outreach campaign is funded through a partnership with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the US Climate Alliance.
